Gex Plush

The Gex Gecko Plush is an 8 inch plush toy produced by Bensussen Deutsch & Associates, Inc. (BD&A). It is an inarticulate bean bag doll made from 100% polyester fiber. The suit on the doll is made from a velvet-like material, and the mouth appears to have a black teeth outline that has faded or rubbed off with age. The faded teeth outline is a common trait among Gex plush toys. However, the rest of the plush is usually in mint condition. This plush was not available in stores, and was only available by pre-ordering Gex: Deep Pocket Gecko through Eidos's website. Due to the exclusivity of its release, not many plush toys were made or released. As a result, it has become a highly sought after item by toy collectors and Gex fans alike. Prices for the plush have ranged from as low as $50 to as high as $200.

Trivia[]

  • While this plush was made to coincide with the release of the third game's Game Boy Color port, its design is based on Gex's appearance in Gex: Enter the Gecko. Both the suit and pose are reminiscent of the second game's cover. This trend of video game plush dolls not matching the games they were released for was fairly common. Another example of this is the Rayman plush released for Rayman 3, which was based on Rayman's appearance in Rayman 2: The Great Escape.

  • This is the only official Gex plush doll to be released. However, it may not be the only one ever made. In an image taken for Volume 2 Issue 4 of Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine, one of the developers of Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko can be seen holding a Private Gex plush doll. So far, this is the only known image of this plush doll and it is unclear if more of these dolls exist. It is also unknown whether the pictured developer is still in possession of the plush doll or not.
