The Media Dimension is the dimension of television that was once ruled by Rez. This is the world that exists inside of a television set. TV programs and movies come to life in this dimension. After the first Gex game, the Media Dimension was liberated from Rez's rule. Throughout the series Rez attempts to regain his control over the dimension, but his attempts are thwarted thanks to Gex. It is an amalgamation of many different genres of popular culture media, and where the Gex games largely take place.
The Media Dimension is different in each game and serves as the main hub world throughout the series. Each level or world is contained within a giant TV set, and each set is viewable by walking around the Media Dimension. In Deep Cover Gecko, Gex can access the Media Dimension through the Gex Cave.
Layout[]
In the first game, the Media Dimension was accessed by a central building with four TVs around it known as the Dome. Inside the Dome is an elevator that leads down to Rezopolis. The atmosphere of this dimension is metallic with wires generating energy and Rezopolis looming below.
In the second game, the Media Dimension has a new atmosphere with Roman style architecture, Gex statues in various poses, giant television sets, gates, flying platforms, and mountains in the background. This time, the entrance to Rez's lair in Channel Z is located in a lion-shaped entrance which can only be opened with 26 red remotes.
In the third game, the Gex Cave acts as the central hub for the levels in the game. TV sets can be found through out the various hub areas, and Gex can travel in and out of the Media Dimension through these sets. Rezopolis is also absent in this game, and Channel Z takes the player to Rez's space station known as the Rez Raker.
