Golden Flies or Fly Coins are collectibles that appear in Gex and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. In the first game, they resembled flies with a golden finish. Collecting 100 of them would give Gex an extra life. In Gex 3, they underwent a redesign and became more coin-like in their appearance. Their design became more flat and symmetrical, and one side was colored blue. Collecting 50 of these coins would give Gex an extra life, and collecting all 100 in a level would reward him with a secret remote. Deep Pocket Gecko's Fly Coins were different from the console versions. They were green with an altered fly design, but still served the same function.

Trivia[]
- Golden Flies were originally going to return in Gex 3, but were replaced by the Fly Coin design some time during development. Evidence of this can be found in early prototype footage for the game.
- References to the older design are still present in Gex 3. This is mainly evident by the Coat of Arms emblem in the level, Mystery TV.
- Despite the older design being replaced for the newer design in future prototypes. In the December 30th, 1998 build, the old design can be found in the cut level, Jaws1. However, it cannot be collected by the player.
