Gex[]
Gex, a young anthropomorphic gecko, lives by himself watching television and eating snacks in his mansion in Maui, Hawaii, which he acquired after inheriting a large sum of money following the death of his great-uncle. While looking for a good show to watch after doing some "nude funkercising", he consumes a passing house fly.
This house fly turns out to be a small undercover drone being controlled by Rez, the overlord of the Media Dimension. Rez uses the droid to "bug" Gex, and pulls him into the Media Dimension through the TV set, intending to use him as the network's new mascot character. In order to escape, Gex needs to traverse the Media Dimension and find remote controls which he could use to destroy the TV sets blockading his exit back to the outside world.
Gex fights his way through the Media Dimension, finding remotes, and defeating Rez' henchmen along the way, before eventually defeating Rez himself using some of the tyrant's own drones against him. Upon returning home, Gex resumes watching his TV, wondering what was on HBO.
Gex 2: Enter The Gecko[]
Following his victory over Rez in the Media Dimension, Gex has retired from the public eye and turned to solitude.
Two years later, his quiet life is soon turned upside down. One day he is watching television, when all of a sudden, the screen goes blank and Rez's image begins flashing on the screen. Two government agents also appear and abduct Gex to their headquarters, in which Gex is interrogated. The agents explain that Rez has returned and they need his help in taking him down again. Gex refuses, saying that he has already saved the world once and that they should try to find someone else. When the agents make a fair negotiation for a huge sum of cash and gadgets, Gex tells them everything. He accepts the mission, to which he leaves the building and is then accosted by a female agent who introduces herself as Agent Xtra and wishes him good luck.
After navigating numerous television channels in the Media Dimension, Gex finally confronts Rez and the two battle once again until Gex drops a huge television set on Rez severely weakening him. In desperation, Rez tells Gex through a television that he is his father. Gex merely turns the television off.
Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko[]
Two years later, while watching television, Gex discovers that his partner and lover Agent Xtra, now the head of the "TV Terrorist Defense Unit", has been reported missing. Xtra herself manages to contact Gex and inform him that Rez has returned once again and kidnapped her to get to him. Through his secret lair, Gex returns to the Media Dimension and circumnavigates numerous television channels with help from his butler Alfred and in the process frees and befriends Rez's prisoners, Rex and Cuz.
Together, they find Rez and challenge him to a final battle. In the aftermath, Rez is destroyed once and for all, and Gex saves Xtra.
