Crystal Dynamics, Inc. is an American videogame developer based in Redwood City, California near the San Franciso Area. The company was founded in 1992 by Judy Lang, Madeline Canepa and Dave Morris. They were mostly notably known being the first-party developer during the launch of the Panasonic 3DO. Starting off with the release of Crash N' Burn as a launch title for the system.
However, they will become mostly known for release of their first mascot platformer, Gex released on the system in 1995, even serving as the company's mascot on its logo until 2000. The company has created many notable games series such as Legacy of Kain, Fear Effect, Akuji The Heartless, Tomb Raider (2013), Pandemonium! and many others. They are currently owned by Embracer Group as of 26th August 2022, after a recent acquisition of their company along with Eidos Interactive by previous owner, Square Enix Ltd.
