The strategy section of the article is incomplete. Try finishing off the section by adding your own walkthrough/guide how it could be done.

Army Channel is the 4th level/channel of Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. Gex dresses up as an army soldier here. The level consists of a battlefield. There are searchlights that will gun down Gex and he can use machine guns to shatter them. The field is also littered with land mines. Gex gets to drive a tank in this level.

Setting and inspiration[]

The theme of this level is war films and dramas, with the backdrops primarily inspired by the events of World War II, such as in Hogan's Heroes or Band of Brothers. The "war field" along with the "combat maze" are inspired by the movie The Winter War in the fact that they are covered by snow. The city scenery for the bug crate mission is inspired by the movie Kanał.

Trivia[]

  • In the December 30th prototype, the placeholder name for this channel was called 'War Channel'
  • As shown in the December 30th prototype, upon selecting a mission; there's an unused helicopter animation shown at the start of the mission showing it taking off. This cutscene isn't present in the retail release, with the helicopter being limited to air-dropping the level's exit TVs upon completing a mission.
  • As seen in the February 8th, 1999 prototype, Gex has two idle animations which is not present in the retail release. The reason for why they were cut is unknown.
